Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform inspection, testing, and diagnostics on electric forklift batteries and chargers (voltage checks, load tests, specific gravity, etc.).
- Perform preventive maintenance, including watering, charging, cleaning, rotation, and equalizing of batteries.
- Repair or rebuild batteries by replacing cells, connectors, cables, and cases; perform acid adjustments as required.
- Install and remove batteries from forklift units using appropriate lifting equipment (lift trucks, overhead cranes, pallet jacks).
- Troubleshoot and repair battery chargers and related charging systems, following electrical schematics and manuals.
- Maintain accurate battery and charger records, including serial numbers, service history, and inventory transactions (often via tablet or job'tracking software).
- Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety procedures related to acid handling, PPE, ventilation, and spill response.
- Keep work area, shop, and service vehicle organized, clean, and in compliance with safety standards.
- Communicate with supervisors, vendors, and customers regarding service findings, warranty issues, and recommended repairs.

Forklift Battery Mechanic/Technician Requirements
- 1-2+ years of experience with industrial batteries, electrical work, or related mechanic/technician roles
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of DC electrical circuits, current, and voltage measurement
- Ability to read and follow service manuals, diagrams, and work orders
- Strong safety awareness and proper use of PPE for acid and electrical work
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs and work in a shop or warehouse environment with moderate noise and fumes
