• Perform inspection, testing, and diagnostics on electric forklift batteries and chargers (voltage checks, load tests, specific gravity, etc.).
• Perform preventive maintenance, including watering, charging, cleaning, rotation, and equalizing of batteries.
• Repair or rebuild batteries by replacing cells, connectors, cables, and cases; perform acid adjustments as required.
• Install and remove batteries from forklift units using appropriate lifting equipment (lift trucks, overhead cranes, pallet jacks).
• Troubleshoot and repair battery chargers and related charging systems, following electrical schematics and manuals.
• Maintain accurate battery and charger records, including serial numbers, service history, and inventory transactions (often via tablet or job'tracking software).
• Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety procedures related to acid handling, PPE, ventilation, and spill response.
• Keep work area, shop, and service vehicle organized, clean, and in compliance with safety standards.
• Communicate with supervisors, vendors, and customers regarding service findings, warranty issues, and recommended repairs.
